Adrianne Elizabeth Lenker is an American singer-songwriter best known as the
lead vocalist and chief songwriter for the rock band Big Thief. Born on July 9,
1991, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she grew up mainly in Minnesota, where her
parents participated in a Christian cult. Having written her first song at age
8, her solo debut Stages of the Sun (2006) was released when she was just 14
years old. It was not until 2014 that she released the follow-up Hours Were the
