C & C Music Factory was formed in New York City in 1989 by songwriters and
producers Robert Clivillés and David Cole who contracted performers for their
recordings. These included rapper Freedom Williams and singers Zelma Davis and
Martha Wash. They had huge international success right away and were named Best
New Artist at the 1991 Grammy Awards.
Their debut album 'Gonna Make You Sweat' went to number two on the Billboard 200
