Born in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, on September 20, 1988, Chiaki Satō built her reputation as a film and TV actress before launching a successful music career during the 2010s. Her earliest roles included the 2005 television drama Aozora Koi Hoshi and the 2007 film Hōtai Club, both of which were released while she was still a teenager. Chiaki Satō then joined Kinoko Teikoku, a four-piece band whose mix of dream-pop and shoegaze helped propel records like 2016's Ai no Yukue into the Top 20 of the Oricon Albums Chart.
