One of the biggest stars of the 1980s, the power ballads of Texan Christopher
Cross came to define the adult orientated soft rock so prevalent during that
period. Cross gained his early experience in the Austin band Flash, his songs
creating sufficient interest to earn him a solo deal with Warner Brothers. He
then released his self-titled debut solo album in 1980 and his first single Ride
Like The Wind quickly rose to Number 2 in the US charts. However, it was second
single Sailing which made him a superstar, topping charts all over the world.
