Born on January 31, 1939 in Lac-Saguay (Canada), Claude Gauthier is a Quebec
folk singer. In 1959, he won first prize in the Les Étoiles de demain radio
contest with his composition " Le Soleil brillera demain ", which he recorded as
a 45 rpm a few months later. He released his first LP in 1961, Claude Gauthier
Chante Claude Gauthier . The following year, he toured the boîtes à chansons of
Quebec, Ontario, New York and New Orleans. That same year, his song " Le Grand
six pieds " won a prize for best Canadian composition at Montreal radio station
