French actor, director and singer Daniel Auteuil was born in Algiers, Algeria,
on 24 January 1950. The son of opera singers, he grew up in Avignon and
regularly went on tour with his parents, cutting his teeth as an actor in
musical comedy before making his film debut in 1972. He spent the next two
