Born in Elkhart, Indiana on March 4, 1941, David Darling was a Grammy-winning
jazz and new age cellist and composer. Interested in music at a young age, he
began playing piano at the age of 4. At the age of 10, he studied cello and then
added string bass to his arsenal of instruments in high school. While attending
Indiana State University, he focused on studying classical cello. Upon
graduation, he began teaching at the university for the next four years. He then
