After arriving in France in 1992, Congolese rapper Despo Rutti followed in the
footsteps of NTM and Ministère A.M.E.R. with the cult track "Arrêtez". In 2006,
the mixtape Les Sirènes du Charbon ran into trouble with the police, who sued
the rapper for the record's visuals. Despo Rutti did not let this stop him,
however, releasing Convictions Suicidaires in the spring of 2010, an album that
revealed him to the general public.
