Dominique Grange began her career as a singer with the rive gauche movement,
then became an interpreter and spokesperson for the events of May 68, and
continued in this protest vein in collaboration with her husband, cartoonist
Jacques Tardi. Born in Aix-les-Bains on January 1, 1940, she spent her teenage
years in Lyon, before studying in Paris, where she took drama classes and made
her stage debut. A guitarist, she sang her repertoire in Left Bank cabarets such
as Le Cheval d'Or and Le Port du Salut, and appeared on television in the soap
