Enrico Rava is an Italian trumpeter who was inspired by the music of Miles
Davis. He is credited as bringing Italian jazz to a worldwide audience. He
started off playing the trombone in Turin, but after hearing Miles Davis
switched to the trumpet. He recorded movie soundtracks with Gato Barbieri in the
early 1960s. He played with Steve Lacy's band and contributed trumpet on Lacy's
album 'The Forest and the Zoo' in 1966.
He moved to New York in 1967 and played with the likes of Marion Brown, Roswell
Rudd, Rashied Ali, Cecil Taylor and Charlie Haden. His first album as a band
