Eric Morena
Éric Morena was a French singer who had a hit in the 1980s with the comedic
single 'Oh! Mon bateau'. He was born on October 27th, 1951 in Saint-Omer,
France, into a family of Catholic musicians. He was sent to the seminary in
Issy-les-Moulineaux but decided to change direction, instead entering the music
industry and trying to follow in the footsteps of his idols Dario Moreno and
Luis Mariano. Morena had a hit in 1987 with 'Oh! Mon bateau', an offbeat parodic
take on South American clichés.
On November 16th, 2019 Morena passed away aged 68 following a battle with
cancer.
