Esa-Pekka Salonen
One of the greatest conductors of his generation, Esa-Pekka Salonen (b. 1958,
Finland) graduated from the Sieblius Academy in 1973 and embarked on a dual
career as composer and conductor of orchestral ensembles such as the Los Angeles
Philharmonic (1984) and the Philharmonia London (1985-1994). Specializing in
works by modern and contemporary composers such as Olivier Messiaen(Turangalila
Symphony), Carl Nielsen, Lustowslawski, Sibelius, Stravinsky, Bartok and
