One of the greatest conductors of his generation, Esa-Pekka Salonen (b. 1958, Finland) graduated from the Sieblius Academy in 1973 and embarked on a dual career as composer and conductor of orchestral ensembles such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic (1984) and the Philharmonia London (1985-1994).
