Foreigner

Formed in New York in 1976 by British expatriates Mick Jones (ex-Spooky Tooth and session musician), Ian MacDonald (ex-King Crimson) and American singer Lou Gramm, Foreigner recorded three hard rock albums, Foreigner (1977), Double Vision (1978) and Head Games (1979), before achieving worldwide success with 4 (1981), driven by the hits "Urgent" and "Waiting for a Girl Like You". At the time, the band's music was described as FM rock, due to its frequent airplay on American FM radio stations, which was a major factor in record sales in the United States.
