Born in Paris on February 29, 1948, Gérard Darmon grew up in a family originally
from Algeria. He spent his childhood in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, before
discovering his artistic vocation at the age of 10, during a vacation in
Brittany. After dropping out of high school before taking his baccalaureate,
Gérard Darmon spent a few months in Israel, before taking drama classes in
Paris. Rejected by the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique, he
