Initially celebrated as a child star in her native Denmark, Gitte Hænning moved
to Germany in the 1960s, scoring Number 1 hits like "Ich will 'nen Cowboy als
Mann" and "Vom Stadtpark die Laternen" before she turned 20 years old. She was
born in Aarhus, Denmark, on June 29, 1946, and made her musical debut as her
father's duet partner on the hit single "Giftes med farmand" at eight years old.
Still a child, she moved to Sweden in 1958 and landed another hit with "Tror du
