Born in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 6, 1957, Hetty Koes Endang is a kroncong
singer. Kroncong is a style that blends Indonesian and Portuguese genres. She
made her debut with the album Sunyi, released in 1974. Three years later, “Damai
Tapi Gersang” (1977), her duet with Ajie Bandi, became the first Indonesian song
to win the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo, Japan. The song is now regarded
