Drummer in several short-lived English bands in the early '60s, Jim Capaldi met Steve Winwood and formed the band Traffic with him in April 1967. In 1972, in parallel with Traffic, he embarked on a promising solo career, with a highly acclaimed debut album, Oh How We Danced. An excellent musician (he stood behind Eric Clapton at his legendary Rainbow concert in 1973), but also a gifted composer and endearing singer, Jim Capaldi recorded a great deal (sometimes in a very haphazard way), but never achieved the success he seemed to deserve.
