Blues saxophonist Jimmy Carpenter hails from Greensboro, North Carolina. He
learned to play the saxophone while still in high school, and decided to embark
on a musical career in the early 1970s. Drawn to blues and soul after jazz
training, he played in local bands such as The Little Alfred Band, The
Alka-Phonics and The Believers, of which he was a member for eight years in
Charlottesville, Virginia. Hired by guitarist Jimmy Thackery for his band The
Drivers in the late 1990s, Jimmy Carpenter accompanied him for six years and
took part in the sessions for several albums released...
