Songwriter and producer Edward Mokolo Jr, aka Kaysha, was born on January 22, 1974 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. He didn't stay there long, traveling the world for his father's professional needs, who ended up working as an ambassador in France in 1981. His mother gave him his first synthesizer at the age of 12, and he learned music by copying what he heard, but the turning point came two years later, when he discovered US rap.
