Klaus Nomi (* January 24, 1944 in Immenstadt im Allgäu; † August 6, 1983 in New
York) is a countertenor from Germany who was successful in the field of pop
music. Born Klaus Sperber, he has been interested in music, especially opera,
since childhood. Inspired by his singing talent, Klaus Nomi began training as an
opera singer in Berlin. He also worked as an usher at the Deutsche Oper in
Berlin. In 1973, the artist moved to New York. There he began training as a
