With his blond spiky haircut and smooth voice, Limahl was the Harry Styles of
the 1980s, leading his group Kajagoogoo to a string of synth-pop anthems and
becoming one of the big teenage heartthrobs. Born in Wigan as Christopher Hamill
(Limahl is an anagram of his surname), his personality and confidence
transformed the band from arty, electronic experimentalists into new romantic
pop heroes, alongside the likes of Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls and Spandau
