Once described as "Toronto's best-kept secret", Canadian Lindi Ortega (b. 1980),
of Mexican and Irish descent, grew up listening to the rock'n'roll of Elvis
Presley and the country music of Hank Williams. Her heart swayed between the
two, and unable to choose, she decided to embrace both idioms on her first
self-produced albums, The Taste of Forbidden Fruit (2001) and Fall from Grace
