Martha Walsh (b. San Francisco, December 28, 1953), best known for her work with
The Weather Girls ("It's Raining Men"), got her start as a backing vocalist for
singer Sylvester during the disco era. Gifted with a powerful voice, she joined
forces with Izora Rhodes Armstead to form the duo The Weather Girls, which she
left in 1988 to embark on a career in house and R&B. Her debut album of the same
name, released in 1993, featured the hits "Carry On" and "Give It to You", and
