The Mexican pop trio Matisse was formed by Mexicali natives Pablo Preciado and
Román Torres in the early 2010s. The pair met while studying music in
Guadalajara and began collaborating after relocating to Mexico City. Soon
enough, they established themselves as a celebrated songwriting duo, penning
songs for pop juggernauts like Carlos Rivera, Alejandra Guzmán, and Cristian
Castro. Inspired by a Henri Matisse painting in Leonel García's studio, the
group adopted the name Matisse and recruited fellow singer Melissa Robles for
