Matthew Dear, born April 4, 1979 in Kingsville, Texas, is an American electronic
music producer and DJ, known for his innovative blend of pop and minimal techno.
Originally from Texas, he moved to Michigan as a teenager, where the Detroit
techno scene influenced his sound. While attending the University of Michigan,
he co-founded the record label Ghostly International with Sam Valenti IV. Dear's
debut single, "Hands Up For Detroit" (1999), and subsequent tracks like
