A French trumpet prodigy, Maurice André's technical and musical skills are
considered second to none. A great interpreter of the Baroque repertoire, he
inspired contemporary composers such as Marcel Landowski and André Jolivet to
write concertos for trumpet, restoring the instrument to its former glory. In
2004, Maurice André put an end to his career. After a final appearance in 2008,
he died on February 25, 2012 at the age of 78.
