Mor Ve Ötesi
(Mor Ve Otesi)
The Turkish alt-rock band Mor ve Ötesi formed in Istanbul in 1995. Şehir, the
group's debut album, was released in 1996, followed by albums like 1999's Bırak
Zaman Aksın and 2001's Gül Kendine. In the wake of natural disasters like the
İzmit earthquake and governmental hot topics like Turkey's use of nuclear
energy, the band began to explore political themes in its lyrics. This continued
with Dünya Yalan Söylüyor, which reinvigorated the band's career in 2004 and
sold more than a quarter-million copies. The single "Bir Derdim Var" appeared in
the Turkish film Mustafa Hakkında Her...
