Born on 6 February 1956 in İzmir, Turkey, singer-songwriter Nazan Öncel made a
name for herself penning hits for the likes of Tarkan and İbrahim Tatlıses
before becoming a successful solo artist in her own right. She burst into the
Turkish music scene in 1978 with her song "Sana Kul Köle Olmuştum," which
received heavy airplay on Turkish radio. This led to the release of her debut
