Formed by house music production duo Masters of Work – Little Louie Vega (born
in The Bronx on June 12, 1965) and Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzalez (born in Brooklyn, New
York on July 6, 1970) - Nuyorican Soul was a short-lived musical concept that
combined Latin music, jazz and house. Vega - nephew of Fania All Stars singer
Hector Lavoe – and Gonzalez formed Masters of Work in 1990 and after years of
success, created Nuyorican Soul in order to combine their house sound with their
