The curious name of Rachel des Bois appeared in 1993 with the release of the
album Au Coeur des Foyers, which brought the singer radio attention and won her
the Victoire de la Musique award for Best Female Newcomer in 1995. The following
album, Tidam (1997), also stood out for its eclecticism and Gypsy influences. In
the spring of 2011, after a long absence that seemed like a definitive retreat,
the characterful singer made a surprise comeback with the rock album Un Peu Plus
à L'Ouest.
