A singer, writer and poet of Moroccan and Sephardic origins, Sapho first
embarked on a rock career before, as she grew older, she returned to her
oriental roots, blending Berber, Amazigh, Andalusian and North African
influences with rock. This natural child of Léo Ferré and Oum Khalsoum, author
ofOrients, Janis, El Sol Y La Luna (1987) and Ferré flamenco (2006), is as
gifted in the written word as she is in the spoken, and her stated ambition is
to build a bridge between cultures.
