The German medieval folk-rock band Schandmaul hails from the Bavarian town of
Gröbenzell and was founded in 1998 by Thomas Lindner (singer, accordion,
guitar), Anna Katharina Kränzlein (violin, hurdy-gurdy) and Birgit Muggenthaler
(whistle, flutes, bagpipes), among others. Their first song "Teufelsweib" was
written in the same year and in November the band gave their first concert in a
pub in Gröbenzell. Their debut album Wahre Helden was released in June 1999,
followed a year later by the album Von Spitzbuben und anderen Halunken. in 2001,
