The Canadian songwriter Scott Helman was born in Toronto, Ontario, on October 1,
1995. Raised by Jewish parents who supported his music career, he received a
guitar at 10 years old and quickly began writing songs, even signing a
development deal with Warner Music's Canadian office by the age of 15. His debut
single, "Bungalow," followed in 2014, as did the dual EPs Songs for Friends and
Augusta. Those early releases were popular in Canada, where "Bungalow" hit
