Sheila Majid is one of Southeast Asia's most celebrated jazz singers and pop
icons. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on January 3, 1965, she began playing
piano at age 4 and released her gold-selling debut album, Dimensi Baru, in 1985.
Emosi followed in 1986 and expanded Majid's popularity to Indonesia, where she
became the country's first non-native musician to win the BASF award for Best
Female R&B Artist. 1988's Warna and 1990's Legenda both earned multi-platinum
