Shin Hae-chul is a pioneering figure in South Korea's experimental rock scene.
He was born in Seoul on May 6, 1968, and studied philosophy in college before
dropping out to pursue music instead. Hae-chul formed the band Muhangwedo in
1988 and quickly drew attention to his songwriting, even winning first place at
the MBC Campus Music Festival later that year. After releasing his only album
with the band, 우리 앞의 생이 끝나갈 때, in 1989, he kickstarted his solo career with
