One of the lead exponents of the new wave of vallenato, Colombian
singer-songwriter Silvestre Dangond was born in Urumita, La Guajira, on May 12,
1980. The son of vallenato musician William José "El Palomo" Dangond Baquero, he
was encouraged to become a musician from a very young age. After graduating high
school, he teamed up with accordionist Ramón López and began playing at local
