An R&B and New Jack Swing singer, Ceybil Jefferies was born in New York's
Brooklyn neighborhood in 1962. Signed to the Atlantic label, she produced the
album Let the Music Take Control (1991) under her birth name, before taking the
pseudonym Sable Jefferies, then Sweet Sable for her new label Scotti Bros.
Influenced by the New Jack Swing craze, she recorded the track "Friends (For Old
Time's Sake)", which was renamed "Old Time's Sake" and chosen for the soundtrack
