Tania Maria, a singer and pianist from the north of France, is the instigator of
Brazilian-inspired Latin jazz. She began her career in Brazil in 1969 and went
on to reach international stature via France, where she settled. The album Via
Brasil, Vol. 1, recorded in Paris in 1975, remains a model of her groovy style.
