Originally steered by Stephen Duffy, a former member of hitmakers Duran Duran,
the Lilac Time emerged on the folk-rock scene and became known for their
delicate blend of folk, pop, and rock influences. Hailing from Herefordshire,
the UK group expanded their lineup in 1986 to include Stephen Duffy's brother
Nick Duffy and their friend Michael Weston. Their early albums, such as The
