Club owners Rob Garza and Eric Hilton formed Thievery Corporation in the
American capital city in 1995, employing various artists on a series of hit
albums on the Eighteenth Street Lounge Music record label that cover styles from
dance to dub to hip-hop, jazz and bossa nova. Artists who have performed with
the duo include Jeff Franca, Racquel Jones, Mr. Lif, Frank 'Booty Lock'
