The American country band Trick Pony were formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 1996
and released their critically-acclaimed self-titled debut album four years later
in 2000. The band was the brainchild of Nashville backing musicians Keith Burns
and Ira Dean, both of whom were respected musicians in their own right having
played with the artists Joe Diffie and Tanya Tucker respectively. The two men
drafted in Heidi Newfield on vocals and launched themselves as a country trio
touring extensively throughout the Southern States for the next few years
building up a fan base.
