Born in Bombay on April 25, 1947, Vaishali Samant is a renowned Indian singer
and composer, mainly active in the Marathi and Bollywood film industry.
Originally from Maharashtra, she is best known for her expressive vocal
performances in several languages, including Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and
Bengali. She came to prominence in the early 2000s through her collaboration
with renowned composer A.R. Rahman on film soundtracks such as Lagaan and
