The American hard rock band Vanilla Fudge, formerly The Pigeons, were
established in New York in the mid-1960s by singer and keyboard player Mark
Stein, singer and guitarist Vince Martell, drummer Carmine Appice, bassist Pete
Bremy and singer and bass player Tim Bogert. They became known for slowed-down,
heavy rock covers of pop tunes, most notably The Supremes’ “You Keep Me Hanging
On”. Their version went to Number 6 in 1968. They released five albums including
