Born in Saitama City Koyanagi to a Trinbagonian-American father and a Japanese mother (January 26, 1982), Japanese popstar Yuki Koyanagi burst onto the scene when she was just seventeen, scoring instant success with her first single, "Anata no kisu o kazoemashô – You Were Mine," released in September 1999 via Warner Music Japan. Her debut album, Freedom, arrived the following year and went to number six on Japan's Oricon chart. Her music gradually evolved from heartfelt J-pop into a contemporary mix of soul, hip-hop R&B with direction from Nathan Morris and Shawn Stockman of Boyz...
